and pleasure horses

|
Within these Pages you will find that special Missouri Fox Trotter breed that you have always been looking for. These Fox Trotter bred horses are located on the Balzer's Ranch in beautiful Tennessee.
Missouri Fox Trotters are truly champions of comfort. The natural fox trot gait, is a diagonal four beat gait with each foot hitting the ground at a different time. The horse trots with the hind feet and walks with the front feet. The exceptional smoothness of this gait is partially due to the hind feet sliding into place. The main difference between a fox trot and a regular trot, is that the regular trot has a period when all four feet are off the ground causing the up and down jarring motion. During the fox trot, there is always one foot on the ground, allowing the rider little movement. The fox trot is a rhythmic gait that can be maintained for long periods of time with little fatigue. The Fox Trotter also has a rapid flat foot walk and rocking chair canter. As the gait is performed, you can see the rhythm flow from their nodding heads to their bobbing tails. Because they are known for their sensible natures and comfortable gaits, they make exceptional horses for a variety of reasons. The US Forest Service is using a growing number of Fox Trotters because of their smooth ride and surefootedness. Ranchers use them for their versatility. Trail riders enjoy their Cadillac ride while covering a lot of ground. The list goes on......... If you are looking for a breed that is smooth, versatile, friendly, and beautiful - you are looking for a Fox Trotter. |
