The Michigan Fox Trotter Association (MFTA), founded in the 1980s, continues to be an active and fun loving group of enthusiasts who passionately promote the Missouri Fox Trotter breed. MFTA meetings are held quarterly Alternating from St.Johns and Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Since membership spreads out over the state, we stay in contact with each member monthly via newsletters and website. Our association is an affiliate of Missouri Fox Trotter Horse Breed Association, Region Eight (MFTHBA)  We have worked closely with 4-H youth shows to encourage appropriate judging of Fox Trotters in 4-H shows. MFTA would not be complete without our dedicated Michigan breeders who produce excellent quality Fox Trotters for any use and all rider skill levels. Please check out our Breeding Information page. We have some beautiful Fox Trotters for sale and some babies on the way, so keep checking our website for updates. MFTA focuses on education and fun activities to meet new people and to enhance our relationship with our four legged friends. We plan two clinics yearly at an affordable cost and also participate in a Versatility Challenge Program as a fun way to get our members and youth involved in activities. This program includes earning points for pre-approved activities such as trail riding, jumping, show and parades to name a few. We also have other annual activities for youth, show and trail riding. During the colder months the MFTA participates in at least one horse and tack expo in Michigan. We also encourage one of our members to display his or her own stallion or gelding at this expo. We invite all people who are interested in Missouri Fox Trotters to join our club and participate in our fun activities.
